JIS G 3302 SGCD3 Galvanized Deep Drawing Non-Aging Cold Rolled Steel

What is SGCD3 Steel?

SGCD3 steel is a soft non-aging deep drawing quality hot dip galvanized steel. SGCD3 is a material grade described in JIS G 3302 standard. The deep drawing quality non-aging hot dip galvanized steel is a kind of steel that is produced after hot dip galvanizing a coil of SPCF cold rolled material.  This quality of non-aging deep drawing differs from deep drawing quality hot dip galvanized SGCD2 steel in a way that SGCD3 is more durable in mechanical properties.

Dimensional Characteristics: The related thickness for this SGCD3 material as defined in the JIS G3302 ranges from 1.6 mm to 3.0 mm. However, the width of SGCD3 material ranges to over 1600 mm.

The Chemical Composition: JIS G 3302 defines the chemical composition of SGCD3 steels as under:

Maximum percentage of Carbon (C) is 0.08 percent. This percentage range is the only difference against SGCD2 steel.

Maximum percentage of Manganese (Mn) is 0.45 percent.

Maximum percentage of Phosphorous (P) is 0.030 percent.

Maximum percentage of Sulphur (S) is 0.030 percent.

Remaining is iron (Fe) percentage and with few negligible impurities.

Mechanical Properties: The tensile strength of the SGCD3 Steels is expressed in Newton per millimeters and it must be at-least 270 N/mm2 (MPa) and the yield point is maximum 250 N/mm2 (MPa). The elongation property of SGCD3 differs with SGCD2 steel is minimum 38 to 42 percent based on thickness.  The sheet is 180 degree flat on itself. SGCD3 steel is more lasting in mechanical properties and is not changed with time.

Equivalent Material Grades: ISO 3575 defines equivalent material grade as 04 special killed deep drawing steel and American standard A 653/A 653 M 05 implicates the equivalent material as DDS type C steel.

Applications: SGCD3 Steels are mainly used in deep drawing applications which require greater functionality over extended period of time with unchanging or slight changing mechanical properties.
