JIS G 3302 SGCD2 Galvanized Deep Drawing Quality Cold Rolled Steel

What is SGCD2 Steel? SGCD2 steel is a soft deep drawing quality hot dip galvanized steel. SGCD2 is a material grade explained in JIS G 3302 standard. The deep drawing quality hot dip galvanized steel is a type of steel that is manufactured after galvanizing a coil of SPCE cold rolled material.  This quality of deep drawing differs from drawing quality hot dip galvanized SGCD1 steel in a way that SGCD2 is more draw-able.

Dimensional Characteristics: The applicable thickness for this SGCD2 material as defined in the JIS G3302 starts from 1.6 mm to 3.2 mm. However the width of SGCD2 material ranges to over 1600 mm.

The Chemical Composition: JIS G 3302 defines the chemical composition of SGCD2 steels as under:

Maximum percentage of Carbon (C) is 0.10 percent

Maximum percentage of Manganese (Mn) is 0.45 percent.

Maximum percentage of Phosphorous (P) is 0.030 percent.

Maximum percentage of Sulphur (S) is 0.030 percent.

Remaining is iron (Fe) percentage and with few negligible impurities.

Mechanical Properties: The tensile strength of the SGCD2 Steels is expressed in Newton per millimeters and it must be at-least 270 N/mm2 (MPa) and the yield point is maximum 250 N/mm2 (MPa). The elongation property of SGCD2 differs with SGCD1 steel is minimum 36 to 40 percent based on thickness.  The sheet is 180 degree flat on itself.

Equivalent Material Grades: ISO 3575 defines equivalent material grade as 03 deep drawing steel and American standard A 653/A 653 M 05 implicates the equivalent material as FS type B steel.

Applications: SGCD2 Steels are mainly used in deep drawing applications.
